Hey friends, happy new year! Let’s all work together to make it a good one. As for me, we’ll take a look what I’ve been upto this past week and what is on the menu for the upcoming year.
How Am I Doing?
I’m doing really good! I needed a couple of days to recuperate from all the holiday food and drink, but now all leftovers are properly disposed off (in my belly). I’ve got to meet up with friends who I hadn’t seen in a while too. I’ve also been completely addicted to Hades II. I feel like the first one was a better game, yet I can’t help but to keep playing this and thinking about playing it when I’m not.
After a bit of partying (but not too hard, I’m old now) I’m ready to face a fresh new year. The winter slump I was in has passed together with the shortest day of the year. The morning frost and crisp air is a nice little change from the monolithic grey blanket that Paris’ autumn skies usually carry. We even had some snow yesterday!

What Am I Doing?
In the meantime, I’ve been chipping away at the upcoming Bibidi Bibidi update. I’d love to share a small preview. We’re implementing a big core system to tackle the most recurring feedback: Quests to unlock new content. Right now, not many people feel the incentive to try another run. The game is too easy and there’s no extrinsic validation for doing well.
The Quest system is a bit of an experiment to solve the latter problem. You’ll be able to unlock new spell cards and sigils by clearing little challenges. This way you have something to work your way towards, as well as a little dopamine hit when you unlock something unexpected.

As for the fact that the game is too easy, we’ve done a massive overhaul of the difficulty curve. After some playtesting it feels a lot more challenging, but we’re going to need your help to see if it’s the right direction to move in. Especially recurring playtesters are welcome to comment on the change in difficulty!
This update, called The Skymap Update (v0.07.00), will go live later this week, so keep an eye out!
Why Am I Doing? (this)
As in previous years, I’d love to make a little prediction to what’ll I think will happen on the creative front. These are not goals as much as they are educated guesses on where the year will take me. Since most of these from last year didn’t come to pass, I reckon some of them I can just copy and paste right here.
2026 Bingo Card
- 🎮 Launch 2 commercial videogames on Steam. We’re aiming to finish and publish Bibidi Bibidi! somewhere this year, this is an inevitability. But apart from that, I have a feeling I’ll launch something else as well. Something really, really small maybe.
- 📔 Finish 1 of my short stories. I’ve got one that’s at 99% of the first draft and I really want to get it out in front of some people.
- 🗺️ Start a lore video channel. This might be Bibidi related, but I’ve always wanted to get people as hyped about lore as I am.
- 💰 Make some money, preferably off of one of the things above. I’d dare say make enough money to do this for another year, at least! Or become a millionaire, that’s fine too.
- 🚀 Do some light traveling to various cities in France. I want to be a bit more consequential about choosing where to spend my free time, and some of that could be in cities in the neighbourhood.
- 📮 Keep this weekly newsletter going for another year!
Naturally, finishing and launching Bibidi takes priority this year. Getting back to doing weekly newsletters is a close second though. In the back half of last year, I slowed down writing this newsletter and I feel like I’ve lost something by doing that.
There’s too many upsides, creatively and personally, for having this newsletter. It makes me reflect on the week, whereas otherwise I might not if this structure is not provided. Finding something every week that’s worthy of documenting also makes me be greatful for mundane things I’d otherwise wouldn’t remember.
So, here’s to 2026! That all our wishes may come true.
